One of the most important details in AWS Marketplace is also the most misunderstood.
AWS displays reviews in two places, but they are not equal in how they influence evaluation.
1. AWS Marketplace Customer Reviews
These are the reviews that directly drive buyer decisions.
They are:
- Submitted through the AWS Marketplace experience
- Captured, verified, and moderated by PeerSpot
- Published into the product listing
- Used to calculate the product's rating
These reviews represent verified AWS customer experiences and form the foundation of how buyers evaluate solutions inside AWS.
They also do more than populate the listing.
These same reviews power AWS Buyer's Guides and comparison experiences.
That matters because Buyer's Guides are where real evaluation happens. They are built on structured, in-depth review data and are used by buyers to compare vendors side by side.
No depth means no meaningful evaluation layer.
2. Additional Review Context
AWS may also display additional reviews to provide a broader perspective.
These reviews:
- Are shown separately from AWS Marketplace Customer Reviews
- Do not impact the AWS customer rating calculation
- Serve as supplemental context during early research
PeerSpot may appear in this section because it has historically been a third-party review platform.
However, today PeerSpot is the system that captures and supports AWS Marketplace customer reviews, and all PeerSpot reviews are verified.
So the distinction is not about verification.
It is about how the review is used inside AWS:
- AWS Marketplace Customer Reviews (powered by PeerSpot) drive ratings, Buyer's Guides, and evaluation
- Additional review context supports broader awareness, but not the core decision layer
